What's Included in the R1-RPC/J Software

The current version of R1-RPC/J software contains the following:

  • The runtime libraries (r1rpc.jar and r1rpc.swc).
  • The R1-Tools package, r1tools.jar, that contains tools for R1-RPC/J code generation and test case generation, as well as corresponding Ant tasks and other Ant tasks for general Adobe® Flex™ build operations.
  • The unit test frameworks with source code.
  • Complete document set.
  • A wide range of sample applications for various flavors of usages. You can start your development from a selected sample that is closest in nature of your project.
  • The pre-built J2EE WAR files for all samples.

R1-RPC/J Software Change History

Version 1.3 September 2008

This version includes support for the Spring Framework, and minor enhancements to the login API.

Version 1.2 July 2008

This version follows up with the development of Version 1.1 and contains some important enhancements and some bug fixes.

Software functionality improvements:

  1. Supports coorporative polling and RPC-piggyback messaging.
  2. Enhances the login support in the RPC unit testing application.
  3. Fixed bugs.

Software packaging improvements:

  1. All samples are pre-built as J2EE WAR files.

Version 1.1 May 2008

This version contains some major enhancements as well as important bug fixes.

Software functionality improvements:

  1. Supports CHAP user authentication and security enforcement.
  2. Supports RPC interception (Aspect-Oriented Programming, AOP).
  3. Streamlines the client-side and server-side APIs.
  4. Improves façade class test case specification capability.
  5. Improves value object class embedded code capability.

Software packaging improvements:

  1. The RPC client library is built with Adobe® Flex™ SDK version 3.
  2. The RPC server library is built with Java™ version 1.5.
  3. Use Velocity template engine for code generation, making it possible for developers to customize code generation.
  4. The unit test framework is updated and is open source.
  5. Many samples are included to demonstrate all the features of the product.
  6. Documentation is fully updated and modernized.

Version 1.0 January 2007

This is the first release of the product, developed for Flex™ SDK version 2.
